A native New Yorker, Dan Ackman is a lawyer who specializes in civil rights, administrative and constitutional law. Dan is an honors graduate of Columbia Law School and was previously associated with Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom. Dan is best known for successfully representing New York City's taxi drivers in a series of civil rights actions against the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC).

Dan's cases have resulted in a state court order opening the TLC courts to the public; a federal court ruling that TLC courts systemically deprived taxi drivers of their constitutional rights; an order that former Mayor Giuliani testify to explain his role in the TLC's "Operation Refusal" program; and a $7 million judgment for cabbies victimized by Operation Refusal.
This judgment was the first ever in federal court judgment on behalf of taxi drivers against the TLC and far and away the largest such judgment in any court. He has been successful in appellate litigation in both federal court and New York courts.
Dan is also experienced in securities and commercial litigation and has won more than $3 million in judgments in commercial actions, including in claims against Donald Trump.
Dan is also an accomplished journalist who has written widely about law and other subjects for the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The American Lawyer, Forbes.com, Slate, the New York Post, the Daily News and other publications.
